Winter Camp Adds Exciting Options

Winter Camp is expanding for December 2012.   Along with our traditional winter camp, GPS will be offering "sport clinics" for basketball, cheerleading, softball, and tennis.

The winter line-up will be:

Winter Camp
This is the regular winter camp experience that will include crafts, activities, swimming, games and lots of fun!  This year, camp includes a Saturday!  Don't forget, even the boys are welcome to attend Winter Camp! Campers may attend the entire program or daily.

December 20-22 (Thursday - Saturday)
8:30 am  -  3:00 pm daily
Grades K - 5
Entire Program: $160
1 Day Only: $60
2 Days: $110


Basketball Clinic
GPS Basketball Coach Andrew Phelps will be leading the clinic.  Coach Phelps has been involved with the GPS basketball program for years.  Most notable, he was the assistant coach with the varsity basketball during the 2010-2011 TSSAA State Championship season!

December 27-28 (Thursday and Friday)

Cheerleading Clinic 
GPS Cheerleading Coach Michal Howick will be leading the clinic.  Coach Howick is a former GPS and University of Tennessee cheerleader!  Clinic attendees will be invited to perform at half-time for a varsity basketball game.

December 27-28 (Thursday and Friday)
9:00 - 11:00 am
Ages: 5-10

Combo Clinic: Basketball and Softball

Make it a full day of camp with Coach Phelps in the morning and Coach Holloway in the afternoon.  Clinic attendees will need to pack a lunch for the day, lunch is not included in the camp fee.

December 27-28  (Thursday and Friday)

9:00 am - 2:00 pm 
Ages: 8-11

Softball Clinic 
GPS Coach Kristin Holloway will be leading the clinic.  Coach Holloway is a former GPS TSSAA State Champion softball team member and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga softball team member. 

December 27-28 (Thursday and Friday)
12:00 - 2:00 pm

Tennis Clinic
Claire Bartlett will be leading the clinic.  Ms. Bartlett is a former GPS TSSAAA State Champion tennis player and collegiate player.  Claire currently teaches lessons to children in the Knoxville area, when not attending classes at UT-Knoxville.

Counselor Spotlight...Nia Sanders

Nia Sanders '15

Introducing Nia Sanders!

Nia is a Camp Kaleidoscope counselor and was a camp volunteer during her middle school years.

She is a busy girl throughout the school year. Nia's activities include:

• GPS Honor Council Sophomore Representative
• Amnesty Club Member
• Terpsichord
• GPS Ambassadors 

Nia is enrolled in four Honors classes and AP Computer Science.

Introducing Lauren Winkler!  

Lauren is a Camp Kaleidoscope counselor. 

Check out what Lauren is up to this year: 

• She is a junior this year.  

• Her two favorite classes are Human Biology and Art II. 
• Lauren says, "The teachers for all of my classes are really terrific and are always available to help when needed."
• She enjoys being part of the Habitat for Humanity club and volunteering often.  
• She is a member of the GPS Climbing Team.

• This coming spring, you can catch her on the field playing lacrosse for GPS.

Winter Camp Dates!

 

 Winter Camp dates have been finalized! 

 December 20-22, 8:30 am -3:00 pm.  

This year we will be including a Saturday!  

Campers may choose to attend the entire camp or specific days.

We wanted to start this blog to share all of the fun and exciting things that happen at camp every day.
